EXPLORE AND CONQUER.
Our home world is known by many names in many tongues, but the most common is Gol Gilliath.

Our ancestors were not born here. They came from the breach. An inter-dimensional portal to other worlds. The portal allows travel to new, strange and dazzling realms, some who have not yet even discovered fire and climbed out of the darkness. The portal never remains open for long, there is a short time while the two worlds are connected before it breaches another.

There are no more old ones left who remember a time before this age. An age of race, culture, religion, science, magic and technology blending together in one vast world. Fortune-hunters, thrill-seekers, and the power-hungry alike travel through the breach to conquer the new lands. Many never return.

This influx of new technology and culture has not unified our many races, but further divided them. Fear of the unknown has sown distrust and hatred among us. Exposure to new religion has fragmented our beliefs - those that don't begin to question the gods authority instead cling to what they have known with strengthened religious fervor.

As to what the Gods' think: who knows, perhaps it is they that planted these obelisks which have opened the breach. Perhaps this is the realm of the Gods' themselves for Gol Gilliath has indeed granted us immortal life. The obelisks prevent us from true death. The implants in our arms channel our memories, thoughts, and even our very soul back into a new and healed body. The only way to truly die is in the breach, on a world without obelisks.

Those who tire of the pointless wars, rampant xenophobia, and endless loop that we are stuck in wait for such a world to come along and leave for a more peaceful life.
But for others, immortality is a dream and a gift. Let us not squander it.

Gol Gilliath is a world of endless opportunity and wealth. The conqueror of Gol Gilliath is the conqueror of all realms, truly.

Others still have a great fear of the breach and what it means for Gol Gilliath. The portal is open both ways for that is how our ancestors arrived here. Despite our common heritage, the fear has created another divide between homeworlders and what we call 'breachers'. People always fear change, but more than that is the knowledge that one day something more powerful and more sinister will travel over. Something from the breach may travel here and conquer us all.

Breachers coming into Gol Gilliath do not just walk through the portal and onto the obelisk breach platform.

We Gol Gilliathans are immortals because of the obelisks, we can never die. For a breacher to become part of this process, they must first be tethered to the Obelisks.

After entering the breach portal, they wake up sometime later with an obelisk implant embedded in their arms and in a weakened state. They are born here anew.

Our ancestors learned a long time ago that the best cure for this 'breacher sickness' is to drink your the blood of your kin, the blood of your racial ancestors.

This slowly restores you to your old strength.
It is not uncommon for regular Gol Gilliathans to come down with the sickness from time to time either.

Gol Gilliath is home to a pantheon of Gods.

Here is the current known list of Gods on the pantheon:
Aligned Good
Uros the Goblin, God of the Ostracized
Belios, Dwarven God of Abundance
Ophyrine the Human, Goddess of Justice
Vara the Orc, Goddess of Honor
Aligned Neutral
Learus the Human, God of Commerce
Icuna the Drow, Goddess of Moonlight
Yona, Elven Goddess of Sunlight
Duron, Dwarven God of Wine and Celebration
Aligned Evil
I'llene, Elven Goddess of the Seas and Storms
Edros the Goblin, God of Thievery and Mischief
Golgirr the Orc, God of Vengeance
Ourox the Drow, God of War
Unknown Alignment
TinTup the Gnome, Mysterious Being.
The people of Gol Gilliath will devote themselves to one or several of these deities. Worshipers build temples and shrines in their name, and ask for blessings before battles or special events. The god fearing make frequent offerings or sacrifices in their names.
Each race or tribe usually has their own preference of deity, but there are always those that choose to worship another God due to circumstance or strong motivation. For instance, an elf would normally worship one of the elven deities but if desperate enough they may suddenly build a small shrine to Ophyrine or Golgirr.
Those that choose not to conform to their races or tribes religious preference are typically ostracized by their community. A dwarf that does not worship Belios or Duron would not even be considered a dwarf at all to his fellow kin.

The people here are just as eclectic as our hodge podge of different technologies and cultures. Many of us lived in eras where we were still quite primitive and building out of wood and stone. Others come from advanced societies where they made giant towering metal cities, full of artificial lights and powerful weapons.

There are no true professions or classes here. Each inhabitant of Gol Gilliath has bits and pieces of knowledge and training from a myriad of different time periods and technological advancements. We trade knowledge with the breachers in place of a common currency. But amongst the people of Gol Gilliath, we horde our knowledge and guard it as if it were a family heirloom.

Many merchants are also intrepid breach travelers. Warriors and mercenaries can double as diplomats, handymen, or great beast tamers. Your profession does not define you here on Gol Gilliath. But with the general populous having an average knowledge of a great many thing, the only way to thrive is to find a niche and specialize.

My advice for success on Gol Gilliath is pick a handful of key resources that are not already being exported by another tribe and corner that market.
But then again, if you're not afraid of a little competition, there's always a mercenary or two willing to put a damper on a rival business if you catch my drift.
